Marlies Cocheret

Marlies brings a potent invitation into the deep silence that we are. She has devoted her life to the Beloved. The kindness of her gentle and direct teaching guides us home like a lighthouse. She loves to be with people in the precious unfolding of Love and Truth. She offers private meetings, satsangs, and retreats -- online and in person, in the US and in Europe.

Why I Love Marlies

I met Marlies early in my journey after nondual awakening in 1997 or so. As a long-time friend of inspiring depth, she is one of the gems in my universe. I’m noticing as I write this and ponder my experience of Marlies, I am drawn by resonance into a strong field of presence that’s hard to describe. It’s like a pristine and calm mountain lake, reverberating with life and love for all, waters resting in the deep stillness of the mountain. Included in this field of resonance is a deep compassion for the struggles and sufferings of human life. Marlies wrote:

In my life I have encountered many severe sufferings. I have come to know . . . that Freedom lies not in escaping from difficulties but rather in completely welcoming and receiving all that the Mystery presents. No matter what happens we kiss our humanity and stay home in the Silence of our Being!

Looking back, I appreciate the slow and gentle deepening of our friendship through various “nondual” groups and gatherings over the years. I first became acquainted with Marlies through the loosely interwoven communities around nondual teachers in northern California, then we got to know each other through our mutual association with Adyashanti. For a while, we were part of a small local group of “Silent Sisters” who met regularly for silence and community, and we were both presenters at the Nondual Wisdom and Psychology and Science and Nonduality (SAND) Conferences.

More recently, it was an honor and joy to have Marlies in The Reality of Self Love, which was both a SAND panel discussion and a self-produced dialogue series. See a clip from our conversation below.
