Open Gate Sangha

Final reflections on my 17+ year journey with Adyashanti and friends

It’s December 2016 as I publish this page. A chapter of my life is coming to a close. After more than seventeen years with Adyashanti and Open Gate Sangha, I wanted to leave you with some learnings, memories, and future possibilities. First a few photos . . .

Learnings From Behind the Scenes

Channels of Sacred Communication — video (17 min)

This is a TED-length talk I gave at the 2016 Science and Nonduality Conference where I shared some of the things I learned working at Open Gate Sangha. Addressed to teachers, healers, therapists, and entrepreneurs, this presentation offers a unique overview of how community grows around a core value of awakened awareness.

A Favorite Moment with the Sangha

Holiday Rap on Retreat with Adyashanti — video (7 min)

This is a bootleg recording of a rap from 2009 by "The Premanator." Technically I was breaking the "no photography" retreat rule, but I'm really glad to have this video. The visual quality is paleolithic, but the spirit of the moment comes through. I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to grow and share my gifts within the deep and clear "Channel of Sacred Communication" co-created by Adyashanti and Open Gate Sangha (with a little help from me ;).

Upcoming Adventures in 2017

Center for Nondual Awareness ~ President

The Center for Nondual Awareness is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the flowering and flourishing of nondual awareness and unconditional love. We support those who are called to serve the whole with sincerity, integrity, and uncommon depth. Our membership includes nondual teachers, healers, artists, entrepreuners, and Secret Agents of Awareness, working individually and collectively to create a new culture of awakened living.

In 2017 I'll be offering a 9-part series to the membership entitled "How to Deepen Your Nondual Offering and Grow Your Community of Consciousness." Please join us!

Open Circle Center ~ Board of Directors

Open Circle Center is a nonprofit organization that hosts online and local events with nondual teachers (join us in Berkeley, San Rafael, Sebastopol, Santa Cruz, and soon in Phoenix, AZ). The mission of Open Circle is to support and make accessible a contemporary approach to spiritual practice that is grounded in direct and immediate experience, rather than conceptual belief systems. We do this by connecting people with timeless teachings and awakened teachers as guides, within the framework of supportive community. Open Circle is a pioneer in the world of nondual teachings, with heartfelt service not to one specific teacher, but to all True Teachers of consciousness.

Edmund Hilary Fellowship ~ Cheerleader

I am an unofficial cheerleader of the Edmund Hilary Fellowship, which has drawn together an amazing community of entrepreuners, artists, and social activists dedicated to creating a more beautiful world. They are responsible for initiating the new Global Impact Visa program in collaboration with the New Zealand government. I feel deeply and delightfully connected to this community. It is not explicitly focused on awakening consciousness, but it is teaming with card-carrying “Secret Agents of Awareness” (cards issued by me, in my mind ;) who are channeling their creative energies in all directions, which delights me to no end!

By the way, if you're a Secret Agent of Awareness, I'd love to hear about you and what you do. Please be in touch!

A Couple More Things

If you're still reading (thanks!), I can't resist sharing what some of my friends are up to:

iConscious.global ~ A New Map of Human Consciousness Development. Note: awakening consciousness happens about halfway through.

The Ascent of Humanity ~ After my shift in consciousness and after reading Nisargadatta's massive I AM THAT book, I stopped reading anything of substance for 10 years. At the time, with my new perspective on reality, I knew that things written from a limited worldview were missing important points. I couldn't tell whether something was true and relevant or potentially misinformed and misleading. So I stopped reading. Then I picked up this book in 2009 and could tell immediately that it was on target. I inched my way cover to cover. It's a dense read but well worth it.

Peace in Schools ~ This is the first for-credit high school course in Mindfulness... but that's not all -- it is designed and delivered with deep and profound nondual understanding. The program is changing lives and gives me hope for humanity.

OK -- that's all for now!

Love & Blessings,

Maja
